The Lykosaurus is the ruthless Apex Predator of Lumihelvett. Their violent tendencies, taste for human flesh, and exceptional hearing and sight make them incredibly dangerous animals. Their name means "Wolf Lizard", as at the darkest of night they will often howl, though it is unknown why they do this. These predators are not to be trifled with.
The Lykosaurus is visually similar to the likes of Yutyrannus, it is thought that they may be related. The Lykosaurus have very powerful arms, legs, and tail. These limbs are packed with muscle and are a delicacy to the people of this world. The tips of their tails are the most flexible, often grabbing, strangling, or tripping up opponents much smaller or faster than they are.
The Lykosaurus lives on the snowy island of Lumihelvett. It is cold and snowing all year round. The lakes around the island are often frozen, so Lykosaurs have developed the behavior of eating snow or ice for their hydration needs. This has an unusual effect on their bites, making any wound they inflict on their prey with their mouths almost feel like it's freezing. It seems to enhance the pain the victim feels.
The Lykosaurus will ofen take a bite out of any animal it can get its hands on, including other Lykosaurs. It knows that its main prey items and competition outsize it and will only eat other Lykosaurs as a final gambit. If the kill is small enough to carry or drag, they will bring it to a den, cave, or wherever they decide to reside, and add it to a pile of bones and other kills. It is unknown specifically why they do this, but it tends to attract other predators. Whether this is intentional on the Lykosaurs part is also unknown.
The Lykosaurus is fairly violent and often relentless. They constantly put their all into hunting prey or killing competition. Their roar can instill fear into predators twice its size and can be heard from a decent distance. Despite their violent tendencies, they are very kind to others of their species. Giving them gifts of bones, icicles, or cool rocks they find buried under the snow.
The Lykosaurus has an excellant sense of hearing and sight, though their smelling capabilities are lackluster for a predator. It is thought that they developed this sense of hearing and sight to better hear and see their camoflauged prey.
